Michael James Murray, age 79, of Waterloo passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler. 

He was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England on January 12, 1938 to Stephen and Alice (O’Mahoney) Murray. 

Mr. Murray honorably served the United Kingdom in the British Army for 4 years.  He was a member of the Royal Engineers and he was stationed in Germany.

He married Veronica Heaton on July 27, 1957 in Bolton, Lancashire, England.  They immigrated to the United States in 1978.  She resides in Waterloo. 

Mike worked for B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, Indiana as a mechanic for 22 years retiring in 2000.  In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars.

Son; Paul Murray of Waterloo.

Son and daughter-in-law; Michael Anthony and Judy Murray in Fort Wayne.

2 grandchildren; Alexander James Patrick Murray and Madolyn Sara Arwen Murray.

Brother and sister-in-law; Stephen and Norma Murray of Auburn.

Sister and brother-in-law; Stella and Stanley Lee of Bolton, Lancashire, England.

Sister-in-law and her husband; Pauline and Geoff Clark of Luton, Bedfordshire, England.

Brother-in-law and his wife; Tony and Christine Heaton of Royton Oldham, Lancashire, England.

Brother-in-law and his wife; Peter and Anne Heaton of Bolton, Lancashire, England.

Sister-in-law; Margaret Bevan of Bolton, Lancashire, England.

Sister-in-law; Linda Ramsdale of Bolton, Lancashire, England.

Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son; Patrick James Murray.  Patrick passed away on March 1, 2002.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 6:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Officiating the memorial service will be Father David Carkenord of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.
