Kendallville – Mildred M Burgei Miller, 93, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Chandler House in Kendallville.
She was born October 20, 1926 in Ashley, IN to Andrew A. and Louise M. (Vanderbosch) Pfefferkorn.
She worked for East Noble Schools in the cafeteria as a cook for 30 years before retiring in 1996.
She was a member of St. Gasper Catholic Church in Rome City and also attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Waterloo. She was a member of the Rosary Society and the American School Food Service.
Mildred married John J. Burgei on October 9, 1946 in Waterloo and he passed away January 7, 1999. She then married Ambrose Miller on July 8, 2000 in Rome City and he passed away September 1, 2005.
Surviving are 3 sons and a daughter, Tom (Patty) Burgei of San Jose, CA, Dan (Debbie) Burgei of Greenwood, IN, Doug (Christy) Burgei of Napoleon, OH and Charlene (Steve) Brincka of Brooklyn, OH: stepchildren, Anita (Dave) Senesac of Fort Wayne, Jim (Diana) Miller of Waterloo, Max (Debra) Miller of Waterloo, Richard (Kathy) Miller of Fort Wayne and Dave (Cindy) Miller of Summerville, SC; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Lambright of Ligonier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, John and Ambrose, a daughter, Gloria Jean Burgei, daughter in law, Nancy Burgei, 6 brothers, Carl, Ralph, Norbert, Aelred, Andrew and Leo Pfefferkorn and a sister, Estella Royal.
A Funeral Mass will be 11 am Tuesday December 3, 2019 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Waterloo with Burial to follow the service in St. Gaspar Cemetery in Rome City. Calling is Monday from 3 to 7 PM at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo and also 1 hour prior to the service Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM. A Rosary will be recited at 5 PM Monday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the East Noble High School, Mildred Burgei Miller Memorial Fund or St. Michaels Catholic Church.
