Norman G. Roark, age 87, of Auburn passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.
He was born on March 29, 1931 in Indianapolis to Garland and Golda (Travers) Roark. He was a 1949 graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Roark honorably served his country in the United States Airforce from September of 1950 until October of 1953.
He married Rita Ellert on January 3, 1952 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. She resides in Auburn.
Mr. Roark worked at Perfection Bakery in Fort Wayne as both a driver and a salesman for a total of 31 years retiring in 1983. After retirement he and Rita wintered in the Sarasota, Florida area for many years.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn. He was also a 50 year member of Kiwanis International and he was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post # 468 in Berne where in 2017 he was recognized as being the oldest member of that post. One of his main passions in life was flying. He enjoyed owning and piloting several different airplanes over his lifetime.

Son and daughter-in-law; Rick and Karen Roark of Waterloo.
Daughter and son-in-law; Vicki and Bryan Castle of Auburn.
5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Sister; Joyce Phillips of Auburn.
Sister-in-law; Linda Travers of New Haven.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother; Jerry Travers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 East Seventh Street in Auburn with Father Timothy Wrozek officiating.
Burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
Memorial donations may be made to Masses at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1098 County Road 39, Waterloo, Indiana.
