Roanoke – Ray A Burniston, 76 died Tuesday September 26, 2017 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born and raised in Garrett, IN. His birthday is September 4, 1941 and his parents were Earl and Margaret (McNanny) Burniston. His parents have passed away as have 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Dorothy M Contadellucci and Mary Rottger and 5 brothers, Joseph R, James E, Charles W, Robert E and Walter G Burniston. Ray worked for over 30 years for Sears retiring as assistant manager. He was involved in boxing in DeKalb County. He was a member and coach with the DeKalb County Boxing Club and P.A.L. Club of Fort Wayne. He married Janet E Daugherty on February 17, 1974 in Fort Wayne and she survives. Also surviving are 3 sons and 2 daughters, Ray A. (Sonja) Burniston, Jr of Cincinnati, OH, Chad M. (Tamara) Satterthwaite of Fort Wayne, Brent A. Burniston of Hollywood, CA, Julie A (Chris) Russell of Fort Wayne and Tammy M. (Dana) Post of Auburn; 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Tyler) Fager, Bryant (Candance) Smead, Adam (Emily) Burniston, Zadrien Elston, Cole Vinci and Brooke Satterthwaite; a sister Ilo J Fankhauser of Fort Wayne and his loving dog Buddy Services will be 11 am Tuesday October 3, 2017 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Calling is Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 at the funeral home.
