Richard Dove Obituary

Richard Dove, age 93, of Butler passed away at home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

He was born on April 2, 1925 in Butler to Glenn and Vera (Miller) Dove. 

Mr. Dove honorably served his county during WWII in the United States Navy.  

He married Beverly Duesler on August 2, 1947 in Auburn.  She preceded him in death on March 10, 2015.

Mr. Dove worked as a superintendent for Bitucote Asphalt Products in Butler and Des Moines, Iowa.   He also worked as a journeyman for Tokeim Corporation in Fort Wayne for 15 years and he drove school bus in Butler and Auburn for 18 years.  He was also a longtime farmer.   

He was a member St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler and he was a life member of the Butler American Legion Post 202.  He was a great father and grandfather and he truly enjoyed spending time with his family.  

Survivors Include:

Daughter; Candice Dove Benward of Franklin, Tennessee.

Daughter and son-in-law; Catherine and Kevin Aldrich of Corunna.

8 grandchildren and their spouses; Aaron and Kenda Benward, Sareece and Raiford Brown, Colin and Caitlyn Benward, Jamie and Shane Reed, Justin and Alison Aldrich, Jarrod and Danielle Aldrich, Chad and Cheri Dove and Tyler and Katie Dove.

17 great-grandchildren; Luke Benward, Gracie Benward, Ella Benward, Isabella Rai Brown, Joshua Brown, Barrett Brown, Zoe Reed, Addison Reed, Emma Reed, Ava Aldrich, Elle Aldrich, Nicholas Dove, Kendra Dove, McClain Dove, Coy Aldrich, Case Aldrich and Brave Benward.

He was preceded in death by his father; Glenn Dove, his mother and step-father; Vera and Harold LaRowe, his wife; Beverly Dove, 2 sons; Richard Dove and Ronald Dove and a brother; Robert Dove.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn with Pastor Dennis Kutzner officiating. 

Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Graveside Military Honors will be provided by the Butler American Legion Post 202 Honor Guard and active members of the United States Navy.

Memorial donations may be made to the DeKalb County Humane Society, 5221 US 6, Butler, Indiana 46721 or the Butler American Legion Post 202, 118 North Broadway Street, Butler, Indiana 46721.
