AUBURN — Richard “Dick” Kingsley, 91, of Auburn died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.
Mr. Kingsley was the owner and operator of the Kingsley Grocery Store on Jackson Street from 1947-1965. He then was a Prudential Insurance agent until his retirement.
He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Kingsley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Auburn. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn and was a lifetime member of the DeKalb Lodge 214 Free and Accepted Masons.
He was born May 11, 1920, in Fairfield Township in DeKalb County, Ind., to Ernest and Eva E. (Hyucke) Kingsley. He married Martha Jean Beehler in 1976 in St. Joe. She died Feb. 24, 2011.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Grant E. and Michelle Kingsley of Hampton, N.H.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce L. and Chuck Summers of Garrett; a stepdaughter and her husband, Jolynn and Pete Byal of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
A private family graveside service will take place on Wednesday in Roselawn Cemetery in Auburn, with Chuck Summers officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.
Memorials may be directed the First United Methodist Church in Auburn.
