Robert G. Brown, 80, of Garrett passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at his Florida home in Lake Placid, Florida.

Robert was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Sigourney, Iowa, to Harry E. and Sue Margaret (Adams) Brown.

He married Mary D. Leavell on Nov. 29, 1958, in the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashau, Iowa, and she passed away July 24, 2013.

Robert worked as a professional plasterer for over 20 years and then went to work for the Dana Corp. for 25 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church.

Robert enjoyed gardening, fishing, and loved spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jody L. and John Leslie of Lake Placid, Florida (formerly of Kendallville), Sharon K. Brown of Garrett, and Jeannie M. and Craig Wehr of Auburn; six grandchildren, Jeremy Dean, Nathaniel Leslie, John Allen Leslie, Kyle Wehr, Kelsey Wehr and Madison Wehr; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Darlene Creech of Des Moines, Iowa, and Vicki and Jack Sexton of Waterloo, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Harry Brown Jr.; and two sisters, Pat Bird and Frances Hollingsworth.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The Rev. Jan Dimick will be officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Garrett.

Visitation also will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Garrett United Methodist Church, Community Care Food Pantry or Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
