Robert J. Stine, 87, of Auburn died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Stine worked as an optician for Fort Wayne Optical for 19 years and later owned and operated his own mechanic shop.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.
He was born March 25, 1930, in Aitkin, Minnesota to the late Arland and Julia (Wiederholt) Stine.
He married Janet J. Harsh on February 19, 1955, in Fort Wayne, and she died Jan. 3, 2011.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Nancy Stine of Garrett, Ken and Leslie Stine of Auburn, and Randy and Karen Stine of Auburn; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Lyons of Fairfield, Illinois.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three siblings, Pearl Kacprowicz of Auburn, Earl (Jan) Stine of Leo, and Arlene Kiefer of Warsaw; and a sister-in-law, Marcella Stine of Leo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a granddaughter; and four siblings, Don Stine, Lorell Smith, Lew Stine, and Cliff Stine.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 E. 7th St., Auburn, with Father Timothy Wrozek. Burial will take place in Catholic Cemetery in Auburn with military honors being conducted by the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.
