Auburn – Roland E “Bigfoot” Davis, 91 died Wednesday January 9, 2019 at his home in Auburn. He was born January 1, 1928 in Newville, IN to Stanley and Claudia (Poper) Davis. Roland was a 1945 St. Joe High School graduate. He worked at Charleston Metal in Waterloo for 42 years before retiring in 1993. He was a longtime member of the Auburn Elks Lodge #1978. He served the Lodge as Exalted Ruler in 1978. He was a former Waterloo Lions Club member and former Waterloo Volunteer Fireman. He was a lifelong golfer belonging both Greenhurst Country Club and Deer Track Golf Course. He was a diehard Cubs fan, waiting patiently for many years and being rewarded with their 2016 World Series win. Roland loved his family and took great pride in all their accomplishments. He married Beverly Mae Bickel on June 20, 1948 in Waterloo and she passed away July 1, 2015. Surviving are 2 daughters and son in laws, Debra and John Crouch of Auburn and Jill and Rex Treesh of Auburn; 4 grandchildren, Cara Cahill of Auburn, Chelsea (Tyson Seiss) Koehl of Fort Wayne, Taylor (Megan) Treesh of Indianapolis and Grant (Kendra Hantz) Treesh of Auburn; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; a sister Lola Mae Rucker of Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 3 brothers, Loren Davis, Keith Davis and Richard Davis. A Celebration of Life will be from 2 to 6 PM Saturday January 19, 2019 at the Auburn Elks Lodge, 311 East 9th Street, Auburn, IN 46706. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in Roland’s name to the Roland E “Bigfoot” Davis Scholarship Fund.
