AUBURN — Ron “Butch” Livergood, 65 passed away Sunday June 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 18, 1947 in Auburn. His father. Ronald Livergood Sr., and his mother, Ruth (Brown) Gunion, have both passed away. Butch was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He worked as a law enforcement officer his entire adult life. He began his career as a reserve officer with the Garrett Police Department. He served on the Butler Police Department and then joined the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, retiring as a captain in June of 2005. After retiring he took on the job of Town Marshal for the Waterloo Police Department for five years. He also worked for 25 years for McClure Electric of Auburn. He was a member of the Lakeview Community Church in Hamilton and was a member of the Garrett American Legion Post 178. He is survived by his wife Reva (Handshoe) Livergood. They were married June 15, 1991, in Garrett. Also surviving are five daughters and a son, Shawn (Fred) Burton of Indianapolis, Nickie (Jarrod) Freed of Waterloo, Holly (Phil) Everidge of Garrett, Jeremy (Ruth) Ober of Angola, Heather (James) Hornbeak of Garrett and Kala Livergood and her fiance, Mitchell Myers, of Auburn. There are 25 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Susie (Jay) Freed, of Auburn He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Sara Everidge. Services are 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Rev. Jess Jessup officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn, where Honor Details from the U.S. Army and Garrett American Legion Post 178 will conduct military graveside honors. Calling will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to the service, Friday. Local law enforcement officers will stand guard at the casket from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
