Auburn – Ruby Arlene Haring, 93 of Auburn died Thursday January 11, 2018 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn. She was born April 8, 1924 in Argos, IN to Rufus and Rhoda (Bailey) Jones. Ruby was a 1942 graduate of Culver High School and will be remembered for her many years working for the State Exchange Bank in Culver. She also worked as Office Manager at Liberty Mutual in Lexington, KY. She was a member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church and active in United Methodist Women, several bible studies and the Congregational Care committee working with shut-ins. Prior she had been active member of Jordan Baptist Church in Argos, IN and Porter Baptist Church in Lexington, KY where she and her husband lived for approximately 25 years. She and her husband raised harness race horses. She was a farm girl who enjoyed fishing, gardening and anything involving art. In her earlier years she was active in leatherwork and belonged to a leather guild in Northern Indiana, where she won numerous prizes and served as a 4-H Leader Project Leader. When she retired, she liked trying different mediums such as ceramics, but excelled at watercolors. She was an avid UK basketball fan and rarely missed a UK game on TV 9even after returning to Indiana). She will be remembered by many for her sweet smile and friendliness to all. Ruby married Carl Haring on April 27, 1946 in Argos, IN and he died March 16, 2005. Surviving is a daughter and son in law, Arlene and Jerry Samuelson of Auburn; 2 grandsons and their spouses, JB and Susie Samuelson and Chris and Darcy Samuelson both of Auburn; 5 great-grandchildren, Jacob Samuelson, Emily Samuelson, Bryce Samuelson, Leah Samuelson and Griffin Samuelson and a nephew Keith Mandra of Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Edith Buckler and Freda Mandra and a nephew David Mandra. Services will be 11 AM Monday January 15, 2018 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn with Rev Wilber Yates officiating. Burial will follow the service in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Calling is Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Auburn First United Methodist Church.
