Sarah K. (Schmidt) Baker, age 44, of Auburn passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her Auburn home.

Sarah was born on June 13, 1973 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Daniel and Rebecca (Schroeder) Schmidt. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1991. She went on to graduate from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in general studies and also the University of Indianapolis with a master’s degree in occupational therapy.

In the summer of 2000, Sarah moved to New York City where she worked with special needs children in a variety of schools and therapy gyms. While there she lived in lower Manhattan. Sarah loved living in New York City, often calling home as she was rollerblading across the Brooklyn Bridge. Then, September 11, 2001, changed everything. She came back to Indiana after her three years in New York and began working in skilled nursing homes with the elderly population. It became her passion. Sarah enjoyed riding her bike, Lake Gage, theater, and music. Her positive spirit inspired many! Sarah was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Son; Hudson Baker of Auburn.

Son; Grant Baker of Fort Lewis, Washington.

Daughter; Jaiden Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana.

The children’s father; Paul Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Brother and sister-in-law; Andy and Stacy Schmidt of Auburn.

Sister and brother-in-law; Mary and Jason Jayroe of Fishers, Indiana.

Sister and brother-in-law; Anna and Bryan Marr of Auburn.

Special nieces and nephews; Connor Schmidt, Reese Schmidt, Quinn Schmidt, Katelyn Jayroe, Keira Jayroe and Marion Marr.

Grandmother; Betty Schroeder of Auburn.

Aunt; Elizabeth Gerardot of Auburn.

Uncle and aunt; John and Norma Schroeder of Fort Wayne.

Uncle and aunt; Jim and Susan Schroeder of Westfield, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother; Nadine Schmidt, grandfather; Martin Schmidt and grandfather; Richard Schroeder.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1801 North Main Street in Auburn.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Jonathan Nack with Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn.
