Stanley J. Kowalski, 92 formerly of Auburn died Friday March 29, 2013 at Northern Lakes Nursing Home in Angola.

He was born in Jazlowiec, Poland on June 1, 1920 to Jan and Jozefa (Rola) Kowalski.

He owned and operated JK Industries in London England with his first wife Joyce Fleming. Then after living in Canada a few years he moved to Chicago, IL where he worked as a controller at Chicago Child Care Society retiring in 1985. He authored a number of books including No Place to Call Home and No Place to Go Home which are about his time as a prisoner of war.

He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Polish Army under the command of the British and Canadian Troops. He was a prisoner of war in the Soviet Gulags in Siberia.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn, President of the Polish American Society in Chicago and a graduate of the London School of Economics.

He married Joyce Fleming in 1952 and she passed away in 1965. He then married Maria Garczynski in 1966 and she passed away in 2010.

Surviving are 2 daughters and a son, Alexandra Everist of Clearwater, FL, Dr. Wladek Kowalski of Bloomingdale, MI and Victoria (Perry) Chorpenning of Waterloo; 8 grandchildren, Stephanie Lockridge, Jennifer (Garrison) Bowers, Danielle (Justin) Scher, Casey Chorpenning, Phardra (Dion) Poppen, Giles (Angela) Everist, Grahame (Trisha) Everist and Brandon Everist; 9 great grandchildren, Kaitlin Aken, Natalya Everist, Evelina Everist, Hughen Everist, Noah Bowers, Brooke Bowers, Keegan Curtis, McKinlee Scher and Gabriella Fender.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, a grandson Trevor Everist and 2 brothers, Frank and Ted Kowalski.

A mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Tuesday April 2, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn with Father Derrick Sneyd officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Calling is Monday from 4 to 8 PM at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn. Preferred Memorials can be directed to Fremont American Legion.
