Butler – Stephen E Schiffli, 69 of Butler died Wednesday May 9, 2018 at DeKalb Health in Auburn. He was born in Garrett on August 16, 1948 to Adolph J and Juanita R (Sanders) Schiffli. Stephen retired in 1988 after serving his country in the U.S. Airforce for 20 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Waterloo. He is survived by 7 brothers and 2 sisters, Robert J (Melba) Schiffli of Waterloo, Richard C Schiffli of Ashley, Donald E (Judy) Schiffli of Waterloo, Max L (Janet) Schiffli of Auburn, Paul A Schiffli of Hamilton, David F (Jane) Schiffli of Orlando, FL, Mark J Schiffli of Hamilton, Elizabeth “Betty” (Don) Hamman of Waterloo and Theresa M Schiffli of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers A. John Schiffli, Thomas G Schiffli and 3 sister in laws, Rose Schiffli, Kay Schiffli and LaDonna Schiffli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM Saturday May 19, 2018 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church , 1098 CR 39, Waterloo, IN. Burial will follow the service in St. Michaels Cemetery with military funeral honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the Auburn American Legion Post 97. The family will receive friends in the parish Hall, at the church, 1 ½ hours prior to the mass time from 12 to 1:30. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30.
