Susie (Bashore) Dilley

Susie Dilley, 76, of Auburn, passed into eternal peace on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at 11:15 p.m. at Parkview Randallia, Fort Wayne.

She was born March 8, 1942, to Maurice and Florence Bashore in Auburn. Susie was preceded in death by her parents as well as her only brother, Jim Bashore.

Susie grew up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. She married John E. Dilley of Ashley in 1960. They had three children together and were married until 1974. She spent several years as a real estate agent in Auburn and then changed careers to retire after 40+ years as an outstanding insurance agent. She was loved and respected by her many clients over the years.

Susie always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and the best grandma to each of her 14 grandchildren and first great-grandson. She loved to cook and bake and tend to her flowers. She showed her love for others by sharing her baked goods and helping her family out any way she could. And she especially loved her cats. Her home was always open to any cat that needed a place to hang out or live permanently.

Susie was a tough, strong-willed yet loving, caring mom, grandma, nana and friend. She fought hard through recovering from a life-threatening car accident, thyroid cancer, spinal fusions, and finally, brain cancer. She was always joyful and positive through all of this. She may not have won the last battle here, but she has complete healing now.

Survivors include her three children, John (Donna) Dilley of Frisco, Texas, Jayne (Tracy) Ramsey of Fort Wayne, and Susie Hatfield of Columbia City. Her loving grandchildren are Cameron, Trevor, Sarah and John Michael Dilley; Tyler, Alex, Ashley, Haley, Josh and Aaron Ramsey; and Jake (Becca) with great-grandson Emmitt, Nick, Chelsea and Luke Hatfield.

Susie was blessed to be surrounded by loving and generous friends and neighbors in Auburn. Her family wishes to thank all of the wonderful people who have so generously given their time, efforts and prayers to care for and watch over Susie.

Visitation for Susie will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. A celebration of life reception will follow the graveside service. The time and location of the reception will be shared at the funeral.
