Virgil K. Pankop, 82, of Waterloo died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, in Fort Wayne.

He was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Noble County to the late Albert and Doris (Brandberry) Pankop.

He was a 1953 graduate of Ashley High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War in the 4th Armored Division.

He married Ened “Annie” Musser on June 15, 1957, in Angola, and she survives in Waterloo.

Mr. Pankop worked for Auburn Concrete in Auburn for 13 years and was a truck driver for Angola Concrete for 39 years, retiring after 52 years of service.

He was a member and past commander of the Waterloo Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.

Also surviving are four children, Sheryl (Rick) Truelove of Waterloo, Mike Pankop of Waterloo, Brenda (Telmon) Lingar of Waterloo and Bradley Pankop of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Danny Pankop; a sister, Helen Anderson; two brothers, Harley Pankop and Ronald Pankop; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with Pastor Ron Stambaugh officiating. Burial will take place in Fairfield Cemetery in rural Corunna with military honors being conducted by the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.

Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
