W. JoAnn Grimm Ervin, 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at her home in Butler.

She was born May 31, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late William Louis and Elnora Ruth (Martin) Grimm.

JoAnn married Paul C. Ervin Sr. on June 19, 1951, in Arkansas, and he passed away January 2, 2006.

She was a homemaker. She alongside her husband, Paul, also ran Ervin’s Concessions & Popcorn, which was known as having the best caramel corn at the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair and the Grabill Fair.

JoAnn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 202 of Butler. She enjoyed quilting and researching genealogy.

Surviving are four children, Charles (Rose) Ervin of Schertz, Texas, James (Patsy) Ervin of Indianapolis, David Ervin of Butler and Rebecca “Becky” (Steve) Johnston of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; seven grandchildren, Bradley Ervin, April Ervin, JoAnn (Ysidro) Trevino, Linda (Nick) Klepper, Suzanne Ervin, Christopher Ervin and Tiffany Ervin; four great-grandchildren, Liliya Ervin, Penelope Trevino, Logan Trevino and Waylan Ervin; and a sister, Sandra Sue Granzella of Fort Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul C. “Bud” Ervin Jr.; granddaughter Tracy Ervin; and eight siblings, William Henry Grimm, Elmer Lee Grimm, Lester Martin Grimm, Barbara Ellen Saxton, Clarence LeRoy Grimm, Patsy Ruth Hibbs, Donald Louis Grimm and Johnny Max Grimm.

Services will be at noon Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Craig officiating. Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery in rural Garrett.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, December 9, 2017, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
