Alexander Scott Barnhart

Alexander Scott Barnhart, age 17, of Ashley passed away from injuries sustained from an automobile accident on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

Alex was born May 18, 2004 in LaGrange to Scott and Amy (Fennell) Barnhart.

From the early age of 5 years old, Alex had a plan.  He knew that he wanted to graduate from high school as soon as he could, go into the military and then come back and follow in his dad’s footsteps and become a police officer serving the community.  He worked hard and recently graduated from DeKalb High School a year early at the age of 17.  On Monday he was set to leave for Fort Benning on the Alabama – Georgia line to start basic training. 

Alex was a very hard worker and over the last year he enjoyed working at Brand’s Dairy Farm in Waterloo.  He liked working hard and saving the money that he made.  He loved his family, especially his mom.  According to Scott, he loved his mother very much and he was her protector.  Alex will be greatly missed by many!

Brother; Lance Barnhart of Ashley.

Half-brother; Kurtis and Jessica Barnhart of Sturgis, Michigan.

Half-brother; Garrett Barnhart of Mongo.

Half-brother; Randy Barnhart of LaGrange.

2 Nephews; Olliver Barnhart and Dominic Barnhart.

Niece; Riley Worman. 

Grandfather; Ronald Fennell of Arizona.

Grandparents; Tamara and Phil Gerber of Pleasant Lake.

Several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.  Additional visitation will be held on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service from 10:00 to 11:00.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn. 

Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Memorial donations may be directed in Alex’s name to the Ashley Police Department K-9 Fund, P.O. Box 70, Ashley, Indiana 46705.
