Anne Carolyn Haggarty, 89, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio, to Frank and Romayne Korsmeyer.
Anne was a 1951 graduate of Butler High School and then went on to McMurray College from 1952-1953, then on to Indiana University, graduating in 1955, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. While at IU, she became a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Anne married Michael C. Haggarty on June 9, 1956.
Anne was a teacher. She taught at Butler Elementary, Brooklyn, New York, in 1958, and McKenney Harrison, then retiring in 1959, to become full-time mother of her two sons, John and Tom.
Over the years Anne and Mike enjoyed family and traveling, then in later life being able to enjoy grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Best times in retirement years would be having family and friends come visit them in Maui, Hawaii.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Romayne Korsmeyer; sister, Mary (Korsmeyer) Prowitt; and her husband, Michael C. Haggarty.
Surviving are her two sons, John D. Haggarty II, and his wife, Mary Ann (Briscoe) Haggarty, of Auburn and Thomas M. Haggarty, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Kristin A. (Haggarty) Turner and her husband, Thomas E. Turner, of Zionsville, Jonathan B. Haggarty and his wife, Katie (Lovins) Haggarty, of Westfield and Mikayla Haggarty, of Fort Wayne; four great-grandchildren, Charlotte R. Turner and Ellie A. Turner, of Zionsville and Grace E. Haggarty and Henry B. Haggarty, of Westfield.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
