Barbara Sue (Zonker) Koehler

Decatur – Barbara Sue Koehler, 86, of Decatur and formerly of Berne and Corunna. She died Saturday September 16, 2023 at Adams Woodcrest Nursing Home in Decatur.

She was born November 27, 1936 in the family home in DeKalb County near Corunna. Her father was Paul Zonker and her mother and step father was Virginia (Deetz) and Karl Meyer.

Barbara worked at CTS in Berne, Berne Dime Store, Central Soya of Fort Wayne and retired in 1997 from Service America of Muncie.

She loved decorating, crafting, sewing, card tournaments and flower gardening. Most of all she loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She married Albert Edwin Koehler on November 15, 1980 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Berne and he passed away May 17, 2012. Surviving are 4 daughters; Kathy (Todd) Riesen-Vance of Geneva, Tara (Neal Beckman) Riesen of Celina, Ohio, Shawnne (Danny Soupy) Davis of New Haven and Tracy (Rick) Fravel of Monroe; 3 step sons, Irv Koehler of Florida, Mike Koehler of Florida and Steve Koehler of Berne; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nancy Kuglar of Turkey Lake and Julia Clark of Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step son Dan Koehler, son in law, Jeff Davis, ½ brother, Harold Zonker, brother in laws, Francis Kuglar and Phil Clark, niece Monica Avery and former husband, Thomas Riesen.

Services will be at 1 PM Thursday September 21, 2023 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN 46793 with burial to follow in Fairfield Cemetery, Corunna.
