Bernie L. Rohrer, 96, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.
He was born on May 12, 1928, in Somonauk, Illinois, to Addison and Ruth M. (Shambaugh) Rohrer.
Bernie was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in World War II.
He married Patricia J. Griffin on June 6, 1959, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she passed away on March 25, 2023.
Bernie worked for Peter Eckrich Company and Sons as a sales representative for 33 years, retiring in 1993. In his retirement, he worked for Walmart as a stockman for 15 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.
Surviving are three nephews, Tom (MaryJo) Hullinger, of Kendallville, Tim (Carol Kiep) Hullinger, of Auburn and Tom Thompson, of New Castle; good friend, Carol (Tim) Wells, of Butler; and a cousin, Larry (Ruth Ann) Berryhill, of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sisters, Mary Jenette Thompson and Margaret “Marge” Graham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 E. Seventh St., Auburn, with Father Drew Curry officiating.
Burial will take place at Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Auburn with military honors being conducted by the United States Air Force, American Legion Post 178 of Garrett and American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, prior to the service at the church.
