Billy Keith Compton

Billy Keith Compton was a devoted Christian who loved God with everything he had and loved spending time with his family and church family.

Billy was saved and baptized in 1991 and loved to talk about God and have fellowship any chance he had. Billy Keith Compton age 74 of Garrett, Indiana died peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 22, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends.

Billy was born in Price Kentucky in 1950 to Leonard and Linda Compton, although Billy grew up rather hard in the 1950’s he valued the relationships with both of his parents and cherished all their memories from his childhood.

Billy met the love of his life Iva Martin, and they quickly got married on December 27, 1971. Knowing the lower quality of life that they may have had themselves and with their future children, shortly after marriage they decided to move to northeast Indiana and settled in Garrett Indiana where they have remained through the end and his battles with cancer.

Billy had three sons, the first being Charles Compton of Garrett, Indiana with a spouse of Tina, and together they have two girls, Melody Helmke (spouse, Gabriel) and Starr Compton (spouse, Colin Langford).

Billy Compton of Garrett Indiana with a spouse of Ailyn. Billy Jr. has one son, William Compton who is active-duty Army and stationed in Fort Campbell, Clarksville Tennessee. Billy Keith also has three step grandchildren from Billy Jr's previous marriage, Hlaing Min, Pakao Chan & Satawat Sripeng.

Billy Keith also has four great grandchildren Emerson (daughter of Melody and Gabriel), Ember (son of Starr and Collin), Aiden (son of Melody and Gabriel), and Aspen (daughter of Starr and Collin).

Billy Keith worked hard his entire life with his last job being the Auburn Foundry where he worked for 34 years before going on disability from all the injuries sustained from the hard-working environment.

Billy was a member of the First Freedom Baptist Church in Corunna Indiana serving as an usher there and he loved to attend church anytime possible to worship and give praise to his lord Jesus Christ.

Billy spent his spare time with his family, he loved to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attend their sporting events as they grew up. Billy always put his God first then his family. Billy loved his Kentucky Wildcat basketball and was excited for every game he could watch.

Visitation will held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the First Freedom Baptist Church, 3263 State Road 327, Corunna, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the First Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Moore and Pastor Marty Brumfield officiating. 

Burial will take place at the Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett.

Memorials may be given in memory of Billy to the First Freedom Baptist Church.
