Birchel Slone, 79, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at his home in Kendallville.
He was born February 21,1942, in Knott County, Kentucky to Garland and Louhettie Slone.
Birchel married Norma J. Keens on August 5, 1965, in Clintwood, Virginia, and she survives in Kendallville.
Birchel loved the Lord more than anything. He was a humble, genuine man who enjoyed playing guitar and loved the time spent with his family.
Also surviving are five children and their spouses, Paul and Danielle Slone of Three Rivers, Michigan, Tina and Doug Shippy of White Lake, Michigan, Shirley Kunce of Alabama, Charlotte Slone of West Virginia, and Kysha and Glenn Partain of Kendallville; 13 grandchildren, Kristy Velez, Paul Slone, Brittany Waring, Amanda Crouch, Isaac Slone, Danika Slone, Sam Squires, Isaiah Scott, Gabriel Kunce, Abigail Kunce, Christopher Weaver, Matthew Weaver and Scarlett Partain; seven great grandchildren; and three siblings, Ted Slone of Waterloo, Barney Slone of Garrett, and Nola Moore of Rock Fork, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Ray Slone; two sisters, Bertha Daley and Nancy Vanderpool; and three brothers, Bethel Slone, Emery Slone and Marvin Slone.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday. Pastor Wade Sturdivant will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Kendallville.
Visitation also will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the funeral home.
