Brenda S (Keener) Chavis

Auburn – Brenda S Chavis, 80 passed away Wednesday February 11, 2026 at her home in Auburn.

She was born in Fort Wayne on February 5, 1946. Her parents were Leland L. and Naomi K (Brunner) Keener. They have both passed away as has her brother Jack Keener.

Brenda retired in 2007 from Golden Corral where she worked as a Hostess. She had also worked at the Country Hearth Inn and as a sales Clerk at Wal-Mart.

She worshipped her Lord as a Jehovah's Witnesses and loved to do puzzles in her spare time.

Surviving are 5 children, Philemon A. Chavis of New York, Daniel A. Chavis of Butler, Matthew S. (Carrie) Chavis of Waterloo, Joseph D. (Tatianna) Chavis of Paris, Kentucky and Kimberly D. Chavis of Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Malachi Chavis, Derek Chavis, Levi Chavis, Shianne Chavis, Samantha Chavis, Abigail Chavis, Ellianna Chavis, Kristen Krause, Ashley Chavis, Nadia Chavis and Aidan Chavis; 9 Great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Thomas W. (Theresa) Keener of Fort Wayne, Mark D. Keener of Fort Wayne, her twin sister, Linda L. Carpenter of Fort Wayne, Carol L. (Russell) Smith of Hamilton and Laura C. Medina of Auburn.

Services will be 4 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN 46706. Calling will be on Friday the 20th from 4 to 7 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service Saturday from 3 to 4 PM at the funeral home.
