Brenda Jean Mundroff, 66 of Fort Wayne, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14, 2026 while visiting family in Oregon.
She was born on December 9, 1959 in Medina, Ohio to Dean and Wilma Jean (Hofer) Hayward.
Brenda married Robert “Rob” F. Mundroff on September 8, 1984 in Auburn. Rob resides in Fort Wayne.
She worked for 30 years for GTE, which became Verizon and then Frontier in Fort Wayne until 2015. Brenda then worked for St. Vincent de Paul School in Fort Wayne as the Tech Education teacher for ten years, retiring in 2025. Even after retirement, she remained active in St. Vincent de Paul School’s robotics league.
Brenda was an active member to the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and she belonged to the Quilters Guild of Northeast Indiana. She served as a board member on the Lutheran Senior Care Ministry in Fort Wayne and she was an active band booster when her kids attended Carroll High School.
She enjoyed making greeting cards, crafting, quilting and spoiling the grandkids. Brenda will be greatly missed!
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rob Mundroff; son and daughter-in-law, John and Brittany Mundroff; daughter, Rebecca Mundroff; two grandchildren, George Mundroff and Mary Mundroff; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Jeff Wolf and Linda and Dwight Moudy; and brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Cheryl Hayward. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Elizabeth Mundroff.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 14318 Lima Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46818. Additional visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM at the church with Rev. William Smith officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Brenda to Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Indiana-Kentucky (LOMIK), Lutheran Senior Care Ministry or Resurrection Lutheran Church.
