Carl Cobbs Obituary

Carl V. Cobbs, age 80, of Corunna passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne. 

Mr. Cobbs was born on October 14, 1938 in Corunna to Harley and Emma (DeBrian) Cobbs. 

He married Palistene “Pat” Shepherd on October 10, 1964 in Auburn.  She preceded him in death on February 19, 2018. 

Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He worked as an engineer for CSX Railroad for 37 years retiring in 2003.  Carl was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Wolcottville, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include: 

Daughter and son-in-law; Elaine and Stu Way of Albion.

Daughter and son-in-law; Mary Lou and Fred Hill of Waterloo.

Son; Craig Cobbs of Garrett.

Three grandchildren and their spouses; Shaylene and Patrick Jones of Garrett, Dax Smith and his fiancé, Shelbey Hatton of Kendallville and Miranda and James Cole of Avilla.

Four great grandchildren; Zander, Lewis, Zoelle and Selena.

Sister; Shirley Ely of Auburn.

Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years; Pat Cobbs, 5 Brothers; Cleo Cobbs, Arthur Cobbs, Delbert Cobbs, Harley Cobbs and Jack Cobbs and 2 sisters; Esther Andrus and Eleanor Fee.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Waterloo.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Billy Fields.

Burial will take place in Fairfield Cemetery in Corunna.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, National Headquarters,

225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
