Carl G. Hixson, 80, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in rural Garrett, Indiana.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1944, in Garrett, Indiana, to James “Myles” and Phillis A. (Smith) Hixson.
Carl served his country and state in the Indiana Air National Guard.
Carl married Patricia L. “Pat” Yoder on June 25, 1966, in Auburn, Indiana.
He co-owned and operated Hixson Sand and Gravel in rural Garrett for 55 years, retiring in 2015.
He was a member of Garrett Presbyterian Church.
He also was a member of American Legion Post 178 of Garrett.
Carl enjoyed doing word searches, classic cars, Indiana University Basketball and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Pat Hixson, of Garrett; two children, Holly L. and Roger Creager, of Garrett and Troy R. Hixson, of Garrett; five grandchildren, Kylie (William) Beverly, Tyler Barrientes (Hannah), Caeli (Jacob) Sparkman, Alex Hixson and Michelle Zent; six great-grandchildren, Bryson, Jaiden, Avarie, Theo, Mackenzie and Jackson; and three siblings, Larry J. and Jeri Hixson, of Auburn, Raymond A. Hixson, of Garrett and Norma I. Fry, of Garrett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Spencer Hixson; two sisters, Linda Brumbaugh and Connie Clark; two sisters-in-law, Joan Hixson and Jean A. Howiler; and a brother-in-law, David Fry.
Services will be 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., on Friday, prior to the service.
The Rev. William Haworth will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation also will be from 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
