Cathy Ryan, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Cathy grew up in Milford, Indiana and was in the first graduating class of Wawasee High School in 1969, having been a junior during the final year that Milford High School was open. As a girl Cathy enjoyed many happy hours riding horses at her good friend Joan Sparks’ grandmother’s house. Following graduation Cathy went to work at RR Donnelly. In the 1970s she married Marvin Creamer whom she worked with as an OTR Trucking team. In 1989 Cathy inherited her stepfather’s business, ‘Smith’s Tavern” in Waterloo, Indiana.
Cathy ran the bar for most of the next two decades, during which time she moved to rural Waterloo and married David Ryan of Waterloo. Cathy was an avid reader and dedicated Aunt. She collected fairy figurines, carousel horses, Beanie Babies, and stray cats.
Cathy was preceded in death by her Mother; Patsy Smith, Stepfather; Edwin Smith, Father; Kermit Stamper (Cpl Medical Corp.) and Sister; Sandra Rae (Stamper) Port.
She is survived by Niece; Cindy Duncan (Warsaw), Nephew; Jeff Duncan, Grand-Nephew; Cody Duncan, Stepsons; Brooke Ryan (South Bend, IN), Ruben Ryan (Waterloo, IN) and granddaughter; Zora Lee Ryan.
Per Cathy’s wishes, there are no services scheduled.
