Charles Harvey Obituary

Charles LeRoy Harvey (Chuck), 91, formerly of South Whitley, IN went to his heavenly home on May 10th, 2025, at Astral in Auburn IN.

He was born on August 6th1933 in New Haven Indiana, to the late Roy and Anna (Minor) Harvey. Chuck was a 1951 graduate of South Whitely High School and served in the U.S Army. On May 16th, 1953, he married Lulubelle Hapner, and they were together for 72 years.

Chuck made his home in South Whitely, Indiana. He restored many homes in his community and was known for his mechanical skills and abilities to fix anything. Chuck enjoyed his time as a road test mechanic for International Harvester (Navistar), retiring in 1989. A kid at heart, he had a love for Walt Disney and all the magic it brought. He visited the theme park 7 times, most recently at the age of 88.

You could often find Chuck in his recliner with one of his beloved boxers on his lap, watching a NBA game while enjoying a Mountain Dew and bowl of popcorn. Chuck loved the Lord and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in South Whitley, serving as deacon, Sunday school teacher and AWANA volunteer. Chuck was also a member of Gideon International.

Chuck was deeply proud of his family and survived by daughters: RoxAnne (Leon) Beery and Amy (Jeff) Houser; grandchildren: Travis (Chanel) Beery, Jared Beery (Emily Klar), Dawn (Jeff) Brown, Amanada Hoggard, Nathan (Bethany) Houser, Melissa (Brock) Sickafoose; and 10 great grandchildren: Gavin, Kolten, Nolan, McKenzie, Bryce, Harrison, Rayva, Audrey, Addison, Brynlee and sister Marian Bollinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold Harvey and sister Marguerite Parrett.

Chuck will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering faith and devotion to family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday June18th, 2025 at First Baptist Church 111 Main St, South Whitley IN with Rev John King officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors at the church from 12:30 to 1pm prior to the service with fellowship and refreshments following the burial.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or Gideons International.
