Butler – Charles F Yates, 95 of Butler died Thursday April 14, 2022 at Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler. He was born December 11, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Lester and Lucille (Baker) Yates. Charlie was a WWII Army Airforce Veteran. He was a Postal Letter Carrier in Butler for 28 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Butler and Butler American Legion Post 202 He was an avid bowler until the age of 85... He married Betty J Dohner on November 18, 1945 and she survives in Butler. He is also survived by a daughter and two sons, Jane A (Dave) Peiffer of South Bend, David W (Connie) Yates of St. Joe and Jeffery L (Sandra Arvin) Yates of Garrett; 3 grandchildren, Amanda B. Keys, Hollie M (Brad) Dove and Megan R. (Shennell) Ross; 4 great grandchildren, Harrison C. Dove, Claire E. Dove, Mya R. Ross and Saige M. Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Allen, 2 brothers, Robert Jack Yates and Russell Yates and a sister Ruth Zimmerman. Services will be11 AM Tuesday April 19, 2022 at the Butler United Methodist Church, 501 West Green Street, Butler, IN 46721 with burial to follow in Butler Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Butler American Legion Post 117. Calling is Monday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 PM at the church and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday from 10 to 11 at the church. Preferred memorials are Black Pine Animal Park or Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Feller and Clark Funeral Home of Waterloo is assisting the family with arrangements.
