Charles B. "Chuck" Stearns

Charles B. “Chuck” Stearns, age 90 of Angola, passed away on January 28, 2025 at Northern Lakes Nursing Home in Angola.

He was born on November 11, 1934 in Huntley, Illinois and he was a 1952 graduate of Tolleston High School in Gary, Indiana. 

Chuck married Dorothy J. Mounce on June 16, 1956 in Gary and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2022. 

He honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and is a Korean War Veteran. 

Chuck worked as a supervisor for NIPSCO for 33 years, retiring in 1990.  He then went to work for the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities for 10 years, retiring in 2000.  Chuck was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Angola, the Angola American Legion Post 31, the Orland VFW and the Lady of the Lakes Knights of Columbus in Angola.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Survivors include:

Son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Amanda Stearns of Hudson.

Son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Teri Stearns of Angola.

Daughter and son-in-law, Tamera and Edward Wise of Angola.

7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Brother and sister-in-law, David and Anita Stearns of Schererville, Indiana.

Sister, Mary Alice Agfter of Littleton, Colorado.

Sister, Veronica Bolletta of Hannibal, Missouri.

Sister, Diana Janda of Hobart, Indiana.

Many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Schultz) Stearns; one sister, Elizabeth Myers; one brother, Hugh Stearns and brother-in-law, John Bolletta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 700 West Maumee Street in Angola with Father Raul Marroquin officiating. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.  Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church. 

Burial will take place at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, north of Waterloo.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Building Fund.
