Charlotte M. Whittington, 97, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away, on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at Lutheran Life Villages Pine Valley in Fort Wayne.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1927, in Waterloo, Indiana, to Delbert and Mildred (Zimmerman) LaRowe.
Charlotte married James R. Whittington on March 24, 1946, in Garrett, Indiana, and he passed away on March 8, 2018.
She was a cashier for Capreno Foods in Garrett for 15 years.
Charlotte served as Director of the DeKalb County Beauty Pageant for 35 years.
She enjoyed volunteering at Wee Haven School in Garrett and for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, where she also was a member of the Ladies Association.
Surviving are three children, Beth Gross, of Auburn, Brenda (Tony) Darling, of Fort Wayne and Brad (Kari) Whittington, of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Harold) Russell, of Mancelona, Michigan; and two sisters-in-law, Tammy LaRowe, of Florida, and Analee LaRowe, of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Bernard Whittington and an infant son, Brent Whittington; son-in-law, Gene Gross; and six brothers, Robert LaRowe, Paul LaRowe, William LaRowe, Dean LaRowe, Ronald LaRowe and Alan LaRowe.
A private family graveside service will take place at Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Garrett.
