Clayton W. Maggert, 88, passed away, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at his home in Garrett, Indiana.
He was born on November 28, 1937, in Altona, Indiana to Forrest B. and Frances R. (Reed) Maggert.
Clayton was a 1955 graduate of Garrett High School.
Just after graduating from high school, he enjoyed a unique chapter in his life as a clubhouse manager for the Detroit Tigers, where he spent several years with the organization. He worked for J.O. Mory Inc. in Fort Wayne as a plumber for many years before his retirement.
Clayton loved his cats, playing cards and trips to the casino.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Higgins of Garrett, and Eleanor "Dodie" Perucca of Garrett; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Frances Maggert; five brothers, Richard "Sam" Maggert, Melvin "Jake" Maggert, Ralph Maggert, Clifford "Hoggie" Maggert, and William "Bill" Maggert; three sisters, Wava Woolard, Carolyn Creager and Juanita Kline; and his companion for many years, Connie Deveny.
A graveside service will take place at 10: 30 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Christian Union Cemetery, 4395 C.R. 7, Garrett. Jerry Weller will be officiating.
