Dane W. Knapp, Sr., 42, of Garrett, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
He was born on December 17, 1982, in Auburn, Indiana. Dane was the son of the late Larry Knapp and Teri (Dirrim) Knapp, who survives in London, Kentucky. He is also survived by his stepfather, Michael S. Uphold of Fort Wayne.
Dane was employed at Rinehart’s in Spencerville and formerly served as a member of the Spencerville Volunteer Fire Department. A man of many interests, he enjoyed target shooting at the Auburn Conservation Club, riding his motorcycle, and spending time working on vehicles in his garage — a place he truly loved.
Family was at the center of Dane’s life. He cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially playing sports with his kids and being with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He also enjoyed walks with his beloved dog, Diesall, and treasured quiet moments outdoors with his wife, Amanda.
Dane married Amanda on April 20, 2013, in Garrett, and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Maurica Knapp of Garrett; his son, Dane W. Knapp II of Garrett; four grandchildren: A’zariah Ingraffia, Kaliah Ingraffia, Lailah Patrick, and Aceyn Knapp; four sisters and a brother: Keri (Knapp) Virgo of Gallatin, TN; Amber Vaughn of Fort Wayne; Justin (Matt Cooper) Uphold of Gallatin, TN; Kristin Uphold of Fort Wayne; and Alyssa Uphold of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Knapp, and his loyal dog, Diesall.
