Darla J. (Mackin) Drew, 69 of Auburn, passed away on March 20, 2026 at Parkview DeKalb Hospice after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born on September 21, 1956 in Fort Wayne to Richard L. and Mary L. (Truelove) Mackin. She grew up in New Haven and moved to Auburn when she married Michael A. Drew on March 12, 1977 at Martini Lutheran Church in New Haven.
Darla graduated from New Haven High School in 1974 and retired from Nucor Building System in Waterloo in April 2019.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Drew; two sons and their spouses, Kevin (Shelley) Drew of Fort Wayne and Adam (Chana) Drew of Hoagland. Also surviving are grandchildren Courtney Buhr, Paris Drew and Marissa Drew all of Fort Wayne and Kyliana Drew, Elijah Rauner, Lauren Drew and Elise Drew all of Hoagland and great-grandchildren Elaina, Jasper, and William of Fort Wayne. Her siblings include, Emma (Jean) Smith from Fort Wayne, Michael (Cathy) Mackin and Robert (Stefanie) Mackin both from New Haven and Janet (Dave) Burke from Ossian and many nieces and nephews.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Howard Mackin, Evelyn Golliver, and Frank Golliver from Fort Wayne and Howard Truelove and Sarah Truelove from Kendallville.
Darla had a love for reading and was taught many crafts from her mother and grandmother. Before her retirement she started paper crafting and loved to make homemade cards for family and friends. She loved attending the many school and sporting events that her grandchildren participated in – cross country, track, soccer, swimming, baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, piano recitals, and plays. She also enjoyed winters in Florida since her retirement.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 East Seventh Street in Auburn.
A Funeral Mass will be held following the visitation at the church at 10:30 AM on Thursday.
Inurnment will take place at Auburn Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Darla to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Parkview Hospice through the Parkview Health Foundation.
