Darola L Baker, 93 of Auburn and formerly of Waterloo passed away Tuesday May 26, 2026 at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn.
She was born August 22, 1932 in Hudson to John W and Ania J (Simmons) Kemery.
Darola was a graduate of Salem Center High School.
She started her working career as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Fort Wayne. She was a Preschool Director for 20 years at the Kiddie College in Waterloo and worked for over 25 years as a Licensed Insurance Agent for Baker Insurance in Waterloo before her retirement in 1999.
Darola was a member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene, Page Turners Book Club of Waterloo and the Friends of the Waterloo Library where she also served at one time as its president.
She had a giving heart and volunteered her time with Upward Basketball through the church, Impact Basketball through the YMCA, Cup of Cold-Water Ministry of Waterloo and Little Miracles Preschool through the church.
Darola married Dow Baker on September 8, 1956 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and he survives.
Also surviving is a son and 2 daughters, Tim D. (Jennifer) Baker of Waterloo, Sandra J. (Greg) Deardorf of Auburn and Sherry L Foster of Auburn; 8 grandchildren, Kyle (Katy) Foster, Joel (Melanie) Cleverly, Tyler (Courtney) Cleverly, Angie Baker, Lindsay (Joshua) LaRowe, Derek Baker, Zach Foster and Amanda Deardorf; 21 great grandchildren, MaKenzie, Dominick, Owen, Olivia, Hayden, Dawson, DreAdynn, Cooper, Adalynn, Destin, Layten, Scout, Brooke, Henry, Layla, Lucy, Maverick, Marlow, Emmitt, Irelyn, Benson and there are also 4 great, great grandchildren; 2 brother in laws and a sister in law, Jesse Baker of Naples, Florida and Roger Lee and LaDell Baker of Harrison, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Carolyn E. Clark and Darleene J Brewer; sister-in-law, Mary Baker.
Services will be at 4 PM Friday, May 29, 2026 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN 46793 with burial to follow in Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo. Calling is 2 hours prior to the service Friday from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be given in memory of Darola to the Auburn Nazarene Church of the Waterloo Library.
