Hamilton – Donna G (Oberlin) Hamman, 96, formerly of Hamilton passed away on Easter Sunday April 20, 2025 at her home at Story Point in Fort Wayne.
She was born September 13, 1928 in Hamilton to Harry and Mildred (Opdycke) Oberlin who have both passed away.
Donna was Valedictorian of her graduating Class at Hamilton High School and was a graduate of Warner Beauty College. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years. She also owned and operated, alongside her husband Robert, Hamman Electric for 50 years.
She was a longtime member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church where she directed the choir from 1958 to 2022. Music was her passion. She served as past president of the United Methodist Women, was a charter member of Steuben Women’s Club, and was a Charter member of Hamilton American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Hamilton Homemakers Extension Club and the Red Hat Mamas.
Spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends was her joy. She loved the game of Bridge and other card games, reading, IU Basketball and traveling with her husband and friends. She was humbled when presented a piece of St. Clair glass which read “Dedicated Servant to God and Church”
Donna married Robert D Hamman on December 4, 1948 in the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Also surviving are 2 sons and daughter in laws, David and Sherrill Hamman of Fort Wayne and Richard and Lori Hamman of Fort Wayne and a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bob Lehman of Lakeview, Ohio; 9 grandchildren, Shawn (Michael) Morris of Fort Wayne, Ryan (Christin) Hamman of Fort Wayne, Nicole (Bryan) Heiserman of Columbus, Ohio, Danielle (Brad) Carman of Columbus, Ohio, Austin Hamman of Fort Wayne, Adam (Morgan) Hamman of Fishers, IN, Alicia Hamman (fiancé, Brad George) of Fort Wayne, Gavin (Olivia) Heiserman of Columbus, Ohio and Haley Heiserman of Columbus, Ohio; 8 great grandchildren, Tyler Morris, Aleena Hamman, Jayden Hamman, Beckett Hamman, Amelia Carman, Vivian Carman, Asher Hamman and Mac Hamman; 2 sisters-in-law, Donna Oberlin of Hamilton and Deloris Hamman of Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Duane Oberlin and brothers and sisters in law, Denver and Ida Hamman, Gerald and Bette Hamman, Homer and Irene Hamman and Jerry Hamman.
