Auburn – Dorothy M. “Dottie” Leins, 92, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
She was born November 16, 1933 in Muncie, IN. Her parents were Austin B. Feller and Anneta (Wilson) Ordway.
Dottie worked for Rohm Chevrolet in Auburn for many years. She then served as DeKalb County Assessor for 16 years before retiring in 2007.
She was a member of the Association of Indiana County Assessors, International Association of Assessing Officials and the Order of Eastern Star.
Dottie married Lesla Junior Leins on June 26, 1954 in the Auburn United Methodist Church, and he passed away March 3, 2025. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sarah Leins of Auburn, Randy and Robin Leins of Auburn, and Larry and Ginny Leins of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Andy) Schmidt, Jessica (Justin) Fryback, Matt (Tessa) Leins, Kyle Leins, Brandon (Kelly) Leins, Landon (Taylor Rayle) Leins, and Brooke (Blake) Richardson; 13 great grandchildren, Connor Schmidt, Reese Schmidt, Quinn Schmidt, Addy Reinoehl, Aubrey Leins, Nash Leins, Ella Richardson, Braxton Leins, Knox Rayle, Destiny Leins, Miah Leins, Kayla Leins, and Braden Leins; two great-great grandchildren, Braylin Hicks and Brohdi Hicks; four sisters-in-law, Deloris Feller of Florida, Karen Feller of Auburn, Carol Leins of Fort Wayne, and Doris Merrick of Blue Springs, Missouri
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick Feller, Bob and Mary Feller, Ron Feller, Carl and Jeanette Feller; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herb Leins, Jim Merrick, Iris and George Haskins, and Eldon and Bea Leins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn. Calling is 3 hours prior to the service on Thursday from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
