LaOtto – Evanell A. Shenk, 91 passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026.
She was born October 7, 1934 in Fairfield Township, Corunna, IN to Jay and Hazel (Zolman) Sutherland.
Evanell was a homemaker, keeping herself busy baking cakes and making apple butter. She worked outside her home in a number of different jobs including the DeKalb County Extension Office, J. E. Ober Elementary School where she was a teachers aide and worked in the cafeteria, McDonalds in Auburn and the Northeastern Center.
She was a member of, until their closing, the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren. After her church closed, she attended Church at Carrett. She was a former member of Rolling Oldies Car Club, Ladies Aid of the church, and Garrett Homemakers Home Demonstration Club.
She married Argyl Lee Shenk on July 23, 1955 in the Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren and he passed away, October 1, 2003.
Surviving are 2 sons and daughter-in-law’s, Dennis Lee and Colleen Shenk of LaOtto and Douglas Alan and Donna Shenk of Garrett; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie (Chad) Nix, Matthew (Jamie) Shenk, Randy (Stefanie) Harvey and Timothy (Amanda) Harvey; 5 great grandchildren, Sydney (Cordell) Christman, Cole Nix, Hanna (Landon) LaRowe, Haylee (Skyler) Plummer and Ethan (Lynzie) Woods; 4 great, great grandchildren, Sutton Christman, Chapel Christman, Campbell Christman, and Nash LaRowe: sister, Darlene Scrange of Auburn and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and half brother, Bill Reinoehl.
Services will be 11 am Friday, March 20, 2026 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN 46706 with burial to follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Auburn. Calling is 2 to 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to the service Friday from 10 to 11.
