Garry L. Mertz, 77, of Waterloo, Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1948, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Arthur and Lou Ann (Blevins) Mertz.
Garry owned and operated Mertz Custom Trailers in rural Waterloo for more than 40 years.
He enjoyed racing, Indiana University Basketball and attending various family events.
Surviving are two children and their spouses, Kevin and Cheryl Mertz, of Columbia City and Carolynn and Patrick Sullivan, of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Kyle (Crystal) Mertz, of Columbia City and Jared (Gabrielle) Mertz, of Fort Wayne; great-granddaughter, Zoey Mertz, of Columbia City; brother, Jim Mertz, of New Haven; nephew, Paul Mertz, of Fort Wayne; his companion of 26 years, Della Huffman, of Waterloo; and her daughter, Tammy Musser, of Hudson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Pat Mertz; and a niece, Rachelle Mertz.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service on Friday.
Pastor Kim Nusbaum will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Corunna.
Visitation also will be from 4-7 p.m., on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the funeral home.
