Harold L. Baxter, 83, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born February 17, 1942, in Convoy, Ohio to Bernard and Kathryn (Waller) Baxter.
Harold married Sharon E. Jackson on November 10, 1962, in Hamilton.
He worked at BF Goodrich for 36 years, retiring in 1998. After retirement, Harold owned and operated Baxter Hay and Straw Hauling for several years and at the age of 75, he went back to work at Menards in Angola for five years.
Harold was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Ashley.
He enjoyed farming, fishing at Neebish Island, Michigan, and raising sweet corn. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Sharon E. Baxter of Hamilton; two children, Melissa A. Baxter Wiecinski and her husband, Richard Wiecinski, of Waterloo, and Steven H. Baxter of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Paige Wiecinski, Brent Wiecinski and Brittany Wiecinski Hanson, and her husband, Chris Hanson; and two great grandchildren, Owen Hanson and Elissa Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Rosella Bostic, Kenneth Baxter, Roberta Holman and Cloyce Baxter.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at the funeral home, with visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service. Pastor Kim Nusbaum officiating.
Burial will take place at Eddy Cemetery at a later date.
