Harold C. "Buck" Hampshire

Harold C. “Buck” Hampshire, 85, of Auburn, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at his home in rural Auburn.

Buck was born May 29, 1933, in Garrett, to the late Roy and Ruth (Nichols) Hampshire.

He was a graduate of Purdue University.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

Buck worked as a certified purchasing agent for General Electric, retiring after 25 years of service.

He was a member of the DeKalb Masonic Lodge 214. He was a member of the Bagpipe Band of Fort Wayne and played bagpipes for several years for various events around the area. Buck also enjoyed being a beekeeper.

Buck married Alice Craig in 1953, and she passed away in 1960. He then married Colleen (Crossgrove) Harper on December 2, 1960, in Auburn, and she survives.

Also surviving are four children and their spouses, Phil Harper of Grabill, Jana and Dave Gawthrop of Fort Wayne, Lyn and John Beltz of Indianapolis, and Julia and Jeffrey Gren of Carmel; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Bob) Hardy, Stacey (Matt) Grashoff, Balie (Christian) Strnad, Heather Harper, Austen (Stacie) Gren, Natalie (Garrett) Waite, Madison (Joel) Powell and Jay Beltz; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy “Peck” Hampshire of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; two daughters, Carol Nahrwold and Ruth Hampshire; sister, Phyllis Dame; and a sister-in-law, Pat Hampshire.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Pastor Tim Ramsour officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
