Helen L (Madden) Young

Hicksville, OH – Helen L. Young, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Vancrest Health Care in Hicksville, Ohio.

She was born October 20, 1940 in Butler to Harlan E. and Thelma G (Darling) Madden.

She worked as an Assembler at Dana Corporation in Antwerp and Syracuse for 25 years before retiring in 2002.

Helen was a member of the Auburn American Legion Post 97 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, watching cooking shows and her flower garden.

She married Donald D Young on February 14, 1995 in Auburn and he passed away on December 18, 2005.

Surviving are 3 sons and 2 daughters, Randy (April) Madden of Wellborn, Florida, Janet Kay Zartman Hall of Hicksville, Ohio, Mary Jane McCalla of Auburn, Homer A Zartman of Hope, Arkansas, and Eugene H (Jessica) Zartman of Hicksville, Ohio; Stepchildren, Robert (Maxine) Young, Curt (Kim) Young, Vickie Camble, Bonita (Tom) Betthouser and Cathy (Bruce) Ehret; sister, Margaret Richardson of Fort Wayne; 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gilbert Zartman, 4 daughters, Cindy Miller, Thelma Kahn, Wanda Eccard, Peggy Friend, 3 brothers, Eugene Madden, Junior Madden, Harlod Madden, 5 Sisters, Betty Baker, Mary Potts, Gertrude Potts, Mildred Graham and Donna Osman.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Thursday July 31, 2025 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN. A graveside service will follow the gathering on Thursday at 2 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn. To send condolences to the family visit www.fellerandclark.com.
