St. Joe – James Erne, Sr., 73 of St. Joe passed away Monday July 13, 2026 at his daughter’s home in St. Joe.

He was born July 29, 1952 in Noth Miami, Florida to Ernest F. and Patsy (McConnell) Erne, Jr.

James is survived by his wife, Kathy (Mack) Erne. They were married November 23, 1984 in Spencerville.

He is also survived by 7 children, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; James (Mollie) Erne Jr. their children, Kirsten Erne, Ava Erne, Elizabeth Erne and Donavan Erne; Jared Erne, his children, Samuel Erne and Wesley Erne; Justin (Nadine) Erne, their children, Joshwa (Asley Wells and Jessica Erne; Jacob (Stacy) Erne, their children, Christian (Ellie Parks) Woodruff, their son Magnus Woodruff, Shyan (Brandon Atchison) Erne, Katlynn (Timothy Cooper) Erne and their son Odin Cooper, Elijah Erne; Mathew (Brandy) Erne, their children, Destinee Erne and Shirley Erne; Mark (Shalana) Erne; Kimberly (Donovan) Adams Carper, their son Dezmond Mathael Adams Cooper; sister, Barb Herb; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis (Lora Hardie) Erne; 2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law, Rita Erne, Stan and Tammy Mack and P.J. and Shelly Mack; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
