James William Moore, formerly of Butler passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett on June 5, 2026, his 86th birthday.
James was born to Robert and Vergie (Hullinger) Moore on June 5, 1940 and they have both passed away.
On December 19, 1970 he married Sharon (Winget) Coburn and she survives.
James retired as a Forman from Universal in Butler in 1987 and bought Papa Joe’s Pizza in Butler, renaming it Moore’s Pizza working alongside his wife and daughters until 1999.
James was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Doreen DuBois of Auburn, Robin Anthony of Duluth, Georgia and Rebecca Moore of Fort Wayne; a son, Mark (Leslie) Coburn of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren; a sister, Anne Myers of Chandler, Arizona.
James was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Marie Moore, son James Moore Jr., 4 grandchildren, Lane Burns, Derek Moore, Odel “Trae” Neal III and Kevin Coburn, great granddaughter, Carina Anthony, 3 brothers, Robert “Bob” Moore, Bill Gibson and Richard “Rich” Gibson, and a son-in-law, Gary DuBois.
There are no services planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorials can be given in memory of James to DeKalb County Community Foundation, for Lane Burns Memorial Fund. Feller and Clark of Waterloo is assisting the family with arrangements.
