Janet E. Maddalone, 74, of Auburn, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born August 4, 1950, in Auburn, Indiana to the late Perry “Shorty” and Emma (Neely) Fender.
Janet married Joseph F. Maddalone Jr. on March 11, 1972, in Waterloo, and he passed away April 25, 1999.
She worked at Dura Automotive in Butler, retiring after 15 years of service to the company.
Janet was a member of the Garrett First Baptist Church.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 202 Auxiliary of Butler and served as the Auxiliary Chaplain for several years. She was a Girl Scout leader for 11 years and was a Dekalb County 4-H leader for five years.
Janet loved doing crafts, studying genealogy and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Theresa (Charles) Parker of Corunna, Janet (Mike) Jones of Rome City and Elizabeth Maddalone of Auburn; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Harry Fender of Ashley; and two sisters, Violet Kurtz of Big Shady, Tennessee and Emma Turner of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and five siblings, Hullet Fender, Florence Traster, Ernest Fender, Beverly Richards and Richard Fender
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. David Mix officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 – 3 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Feller and Clark Funeral Home to help with expenses.
