Janis Perdue Arrington, age 76, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Janis was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and friend whose life was defined by a deep love for family and a calling to help others. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with those she loved. She especially cherished camping and traveling to be with family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. In more recent years, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida and deeply valued the friendships she made there.
Janis had a profound passion for nursing and dedicated more than 48 years of her life to caring for others. She spent most of her career as a hospital nurse, providing compassionate and skilled care to countless patients. For 18 years, she devoted her career to the Garrett-Keyser-Butler School System as a school nurse, continuing to care for and support children with the compassion and dedication that defined her life’s work. Nursing was not just her profession—it was part of who she was.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Mike; her children Chuck (Stephanie) Arrington, Robert (Jennifer) Arrington, Lori (Scott) Arrington, Jeff (Emma) Arrington, and Brook (Andrew) Johnson; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and her beloved pups, Millie and Mopsie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Robert Perdue Jr., and her older brother, Robert Perdue III, who passed before she was born, along with many other cherished family members.
Those who knew Janis will remember her for her kindness, strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. Her love, guidance, and presence will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved her.
