St. Joe – Jerry L. Humbarger, 69, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018, at his home in rural St. Joe.
He was born October 30, 1949, in Hicksville, Ohio to the late Loren and Lois (Bassett) Humbarger. Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Auburn High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He married Carol Zimmerman on May 5, 1973, in Spencerville, and she survives in St. Joe.
Jerry worked for SuperValu in Fort Wayne for 43 years, retiring in 2012. He also owned and operated Hummer’s Lawn Mowing for 13 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.
Jerry was an avid IU basketball fan. He enjoyed his beloved animals and loved spending time with his friends, neighbors and especially his family.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Joni Humbarger of Auburn, and Greg and Tiffany Norton of St. Joe; five grandchildren, Layton Norton, Keasta Johnston, Siann Humbarger, Tandon Norton, and Tesha Burleson; five great grandchildren; four siblings and their spouses, Ed and Dwana Humbarger of Boston, Massachusetts, LD and Karen Humbarger of Huntington, Darlene Carr of St. Joe, and Glen and Michelle Humbarger of Auburn; brother-in-law and his wife, John and Helen Zimmerman; several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Maddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Duane Humbarger; and a brother-in-law, Nick Carr.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Jess Jessup will be officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and American Legion Post 97 of Auburn.
Visitation also will be from 2 – 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
