Jim Patton

Jim H. Patton, age 89 of Auburn, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

He was born on March 6, 1935 in Hueysville, Kentucky.

Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. 

He married Shirley Croy on August 15, 1963 in Auburn.  She passed away on March 3, 2017. 

Jim served as the DeKalb County Highway Superintendent for many years, retiring in 2000.  He loved to go fishing. 

Survivors include:

Daughter, Crystal and Gary Gillespie of Auburn.

Son, Eric and Sheri Patton of Auburn.

Daughter, Lesley Patton and Dawn Ranly of Huntertown.

Six grandchildren, Jacob Gillespie, Jennifer Baldwin, Joshua and Miranda Moriarity, Zachary and Lindsey Patton, Austin and Liz Williford and Autumn Williford and her fiancé, Bradon Waggoner.

13 great grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Ava, Quinn, Cullen, Lucy, James, Nathan, Elizabeth, Oliver, Kain, Bristol and Harlow.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Maretha (Krick) Patton, who preceded him in death in 1956 and his second wife, Shirley Patton.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can may be given in memory of Jim to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
