Jimmy Jacobs Obituary

Jimmy D. Jacobs, 75, of Auburn, passed away, Friday, March 29, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Jimmy was born May 12, 1948, in Pippa Passes, Kentucky to Lawson and Juanita (Watson) Jacobs.

Jimmy was a hard worker and worked in the coal mines of Eastern Kentucky before relocating to Indiana, where he worked at Auburn Foundry for more than 20 years before retiring in 2005.

While in Kentucky, he was a volunteer firefighter, and served as assistant fire chief for the Pippa Passes Volunteer Fire Department.

Jimmy loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He also loved watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and relaxing in his remote-control recliner.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Betty Jacobs of Auburn; five children, Darrell W. Jacobs of Waterloo, Joyce (Jeff) Thacker of Kendallville, Sharon (Jim) Norris of Hamilton, Lisa (Johnny) Sumner of Auburn, and Mada (Bo) Boulineau of Garrett; nine grandchildren, Charles Grubb, Richard Norris, Johnny Sumner Jr., Casey Jacobs, Bailey Jacobs, Brittany Ramirez, Brady Miller, Amanda Lester and Cameron Lester; several great grandchildren; brother, Claude (Sharon) Jacobs of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna Sue Jacobs, and Donna K. Jacobs; and a great granddaughter, Ruby Mae Jacobs.

There will be no services held at this time.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
